On the macroscopic view of a disease

An Epidemiological study

Definition: Epidemiology is the study (scientific, systematic, and data-driven) of the distribution (frequency, pattern) of causes and risk factors of health-related states and events in specified populations (neighborhood, school, city, state, country, global). Source: Principles of Epidemiology, 3rd Edition.

In our organization (FKW), we make an effort to find the connection between about 100 factors (related to dietary habits, heredity, environmental, living and working conditions, etc.) and the occurrence of a disease for various categories of people (i.e. countries, ages, genders, ethnicity, etc.).

It is intended to complement similar epidemiological efforts conducted by organizations such as: The World’s Health Organization (WHO), and others. The data are made from the answers to a large number of  relevant questions that the people from all over the world are asked to complete, and will be continuously accumulated in a data bank, as more answers become available.

FKW will analyze these data, and make them available to the world via internet, in real time, and in many languages.

The final result of this analysis will be a number of easy to understand bar graphs, showing such connections.

In these graphs, the weight of each factor on a specific disease is also shown.

At this point, our system is operational and depending upon the ACCURACY of your  RESPONSES, it can be a useful guide for each of you as to  what is going on in the chaotic world of diseases.

Do not forget that inaccurate answers will lead to wrong results, and that will affect the  conclusions.

At FKW, we believe that these results will help researchers focus  on the important factors that affect a disease and hopefully find cures faster.

A word of caution:  Whatever is presented here is only a preliminary exploratory study which will help us and others make a more thorough (rigorous) analysis in the near future.

IMPORTANT

1. The following link will allow you to participate in our worldwide survey by completing an especially designed Questionnaire.

Questionnaire

200
persons have already filled the questionnaire

2. The following link will allow you to inspect the results of the Analysis of the data derived by the answers of the submitted Questionnaires.

In addition, you can refer to the Special Objectives section.

Note: The analysis of these data is done using a software package donated to FKW by Dr. Nick Panagiotacopulos (the CEO of FKW), and his volunteer collaborator Demetrios G. Panayotakopoulos of GREECE. It should be mentioned here that the outstanding and dedicated contribution of Demetrios made this project possible.
